Teenager/School First Aid

This course is designed for children between the ages of 10 to 18, teaching them the basics of First Aid. It provides learners with skills and knowledge to deal with first aid situations in low risk environments. 

Session 1- The role and responsibilities of a First Aider

By the end of the session you will be able to:

  • List the role and responsibilities of a Teen Aider.
  • List ways to minimise the risk of infection.
  • List the contents of a first aid kit.
  • Explain how to call the emergency services

Session 2- Scene Assessment

By the end of the session you will be able to:

  • Understand how to carry out a scene survey.
  • Identify the types of dangers a Teen Aider could face.
  • Identify when to call the emergency services.

Session 3- Patient Assessment

By the end of the session you will be able to:

  • Demonstrate checking for levels of consciousness.
  • Demonstrate how to open a casualty’s airway using the ‘head tilt, chin lift’ method.
  • Demonstrate how to check if a casualty is breathing.
  • Identify the reasons for placing a casualty in the recovery position.
  • Demonstrate how to place an unconscious casualty in the recovery position.

Session 4- Resuscitation

By the end of the session you will be able to:

  • Understand the importance of the ‘chain of survival’.
  • Identify when to perform CPR.
  • Demonstrate how to administer CPR.

Session 5- The choking casualty

By the end of the session you will be able to:

  • Identify the two types of choking.
  • Demonstrate how to administer first aid to a casualty who is choking.

Session 6- Bleeding and wound management

By the end of the session, you will be able to:

  • Identify the different types of external bleeding.
  • Demonstrate how to administer first aid to a casualty who is bleeding.

Session 7- Shock management

By the end of the session you will be able to:

  • List the recognition features of shock.
  • List the causes of shock.
  • State the principles of managing a casualty who is in shock.

Session 8- Minor injuries

By the end of the session, you will be able to:

  • State the treatment for minor cuts, grazes and bruises.
  • State the principles of administering first aid to a casualty with a minor burn/scald.
  • State the principles of administering first aid to a casualty with a small splinter.

Pricing:

The price is £350 plus VAT for a course for up to 30 children.

Price includes pen and note pad.

First Aid books can be purchased for £2 each (No VAT).

Larger groups can be accommodated.

Course Duration

5 plus Breaks Hours. Will be fitted into the school day.

Certification

Upon completion of the course we will issue you with a certificate from Paramedical First Aid Training Limited. Certificate has a 3 year Expiry.
